At the Guangzhou New Energy Vehicle Exhibition, cable ties immediately caught my eye as I noticed a neatly arranged wiring harness on a display vehicle. Taking a closer look, I saw that cables, hoses, and tubes throughout the car—both in the front and back—were securely fastened to structural components with these cable ties. In fact, they were visible nearly everywhere. The entire wiring system appeared organized and dependable. Here are a few pictures I took at the scene.
Uses of Cable Ties in New Energy Vehicles
From the photos, we can see that cable ties are mainly used in two areas. Near the battery compartment and power system, bundles of wires of varying thicknesses are securely fastened to the vehicle frame using multiple cable ties.
At the rear of the vehicle, cables and air hoses are neatly routed along the structural components. This arrangement effectively prevents vibration and abrasion of wiring, enhancing overall safety and maintenance efficiency. Stable and secure wiring is especially crucial in new energy heavy-duty trucks, given their complex electrical systems.
Why Are Cable Ties Essential for New Energy Trucks?
The wiring harnesses in new energy trucks are much more complex compared to those in regular vehicles. They not only include traditional cables and signal wires, but also high-voltage cables, air hoses, water pipes, cooling circuits, and more. During driving, if the cables are not securely bundled, they can easily suffer from wear, looseness, or even breakage due to vibrations. Moreover, compared to traditional diesel trucks, new energy vehicles (electric vehicles) have even more cables due to the use of electric drive systems. The wiring is dense, yet the available space is limited. This is when a lightweight, flexible, and reliable fixing solution is needed. Cable ties have these exact characteristics:

Cable ties are not always better when they are thicker; choosing the right cable tie sizes and specifications is just as important.
- 4.8mm width: Ideal for bundling general signal cables and power cables, with the widest range of applications.
- 7.6mm and above: Suitable for securing thicker high-voltage cables, air hoses, coolant pipes, and dust cover openings.
In addition to choosing the correct size, the material of the cable tie is also crucial. For areas near heat sources like motors and inverters, we recommend using automotive-grade heat-resistant cable ties. These ties can maintain their bundling function under high temperatures during the vehicle’s operation and in low outdoor temperatures during winter.

In large, complex vehicles like new energy vehicle, the role of cable ties may seem insignificant, but it is, in fact, very important.
