Cable Ties for Plastic Door Curtains in Shopping Malls

Uses of Cable Ties

Cable ties, also called plastic ties, were originally designed to secure wires and cables in spacecraft, such as satellites or airplane fuselages. Nowadays, they’re used in many areas of daily life. In this article, we’ll take the CFS Shopping Mall in Yueqing as an example to show how cable ties help manage plastic door curtains, providing a simple yet effective solution for the mall.

Cable Ties for Plastic Door Curtains in Shopping Malls

CFS Shopping Mall, located in Yueqing, Zhejiang Province (China), opened in 2024 as a new commercial hub. To maintain warmth during winter, the mall installed four vertical strips of plastic curtains at its entrance. Much like nylon cable ties—which are made of materials such as PA6 or PA66—these PVC curtains are also plastic and share similar flexibility and adhesion properties. When hung, adjacent strips naturally stick together to form a semi-enclosed space, effectively keeping cold outdoor air from entering. This method, common in many malls, not only saves energy but also eases the burden on heating systems during the colder months.

However, as spring arrived and foot traffic increased, these curtains became less convenient. To fix this, the mall staff came up with a simple yet clever idea: they used cable ties to fasten the middle two curtains together. By doing so, the center section stayed in place, creating a wider passage for customers and staff. This method is not only practical but also highlights how versatile cable ties can be in everyday life.

It’s worth noting that in practice, they found that a single cable tie was sometimes too short to fully wrap around the curtains. Buying longer ties would increase costs. Their solution was to link two ties together by threading the end of one through the lock head of the other, forming a longer tie for securing the plastic curtains. This approach is both simple and efficient, ensuring the curtains stay firmly tied while also reducing expenses.

Tips for Bundling Plastic Door Curtains with Cable Ties

Identify the Area to Tie
Choose which parts of the curtain need to be fastened, often the middle sections.

Measure the Length
Select a tie length based on the width and thickness of the curtain. If one tie isn’t enough, you can connect two or more to make it longer.

Secure the Curtains
Wrap the cable tie around the curtains, thread it through the lock head, and pull tight. Make sure it’s firmly fastened.

Adjust and Trim
Cut off the extra tie to prevent any sharp edges that might injure passersby.

This simple method works well not only in malls or warehouses but also at home.

Choosing the Appropriate Cable Ties

When buying cable ties for plastic door curtains, Nike Plastic recommends choosing based on your specific needs. You can refer to their product list for model options. In most cases, you’ll want to consider the cable tie size, strength, color, and material. In the CFS Mall example, staff likely chose medium-length, standard cable ties, then connected two cable ties together if extra length was needed. This approach ensures a flexible and cost-effective solution.
